Here are the flat plane angels that we carved at the Cannon River Wood Carving club at the Whillock wood carving studio on Monday night. This project was easy to carve and gave everyone a chance to use the Scandinavian flat plane wood carving technique. This was a good project to bring on the upcoming Christmas holiday.

Here is a lamp carrying Santa that I taught this last weekend at the Metro Wood Carving weekend in Fridley, Minnesota. This is the first time I’ve taught using a pattern I created using two pieces. The body came in one piece without the hand and lantern. The rest was carved from a smaller piece of wood, and then fasten with a small piece of dowel.

This is my ‘Holidays Rush on By’ holidays advent carving. Now Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is right behind. The holidays do seem to rush on by.

Well, the Vikings could have used a little more cheer at last night’s Monday Night Football game. The thing I hate is when people say ‘there’s always next year’. Oh, well.

Here is a Native American on bark. This bark was found in western Minnesota. The colors were added from colored shoe polish which gives the carving an interesting texture.

Here are a couple of brothers straight from Norway into the Civil War. Both are flat plane Scandinavian style wood carvings with watered down paint to show the cuts and grain. They were fairly easy to carve. I plan to make other Civil War soldiers in the near future.

Here is another one of my latest Santa carvings. This gentleman is enjoying his pipe with the latest tobacco crop from the North Pole.
