I am continuing with my line of Civil War carvings to honor the 150th year of the war. This is a union cavalryman ready to do battle. This carving would also make a good western cavalryman bust also. This was fun to carve. More to come.

This was another fun project. I thought it would be interesting to create a bust of Generals US Grant and Robert E. Lee. Each were carved from two pieces of wood and fasten together by drilling a large hold between the shoulder and a ¼” hole in the base of the neck and in the center of the base hole and glue a dowel in. Then I put some glue in the base hole to finalize the attachment. I turned the head slightly to one side for extra realism.

Holy smokes I can’t believe that it has been almost two months since my last entry onto my blog. It’s time that I took a more dedicated interest in continuing my blog. I plan to have more pictures and how to pics and videos out in the near future, but this being the holiday arts and crafts season, it will be a bit difficult but I will try to keep up.
